Stacey's life, an ordinary life...for the most part...
- On May 1, 1986 she graduated from Newark High School, Newark,
Ohio
- On May 10, 1990 she graduated from Marquette University,
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- On Oct 1, 1990 she finished her first marathon, (with her mom!)
Columbus, Ohio
- On April 15, 1995 she spent 18 hours capsized at sea 10 miles off
the coast of Topsail Beach, North Carolina
- On May 15 , 1999 she received her Masters Degree from Virginia
Commonwealth (VCU) Richmond, Virginia
- Sometime in the spring of 1999 she was bitten by a tic while camping
- In the summer of 1999 she was tested for limes disease from
complications
- On Aug 11, 1999 she drove herself to the U.S. Naval Hospital,
Camp Lejeune, N.C
- On Aug 12, 1999 she was life-flighted to Duke University Medical
Center, N.C.
- On Aug 13 1999 her heart stopped beating and she was placed on
life support
- On Aug 14 1999 she was given "last rights" by a catholic priest
- On Aug 20 1999 her chest was sawn open and her heart was
removed from her body
- On Aug 20 1999, thanks to his parents Joby and Wayne, she
received the donated heart of 31 year old Michael Lennon, from
Wilmington N.C.
- On Sept. 1, 1999 she was discharged from the hospital and returned
home
- On Dec 31, 1999 she ran a 5K race and finished last
- On Dec 23, 2003 she ran the Olympic torch through the streets of
Monterrey, CA
- On Dec 10, 2003 she ran the Honolulu Marathon and didn't finish
last
- On Dec 19, 2002 she moved back to her hometown, Newark, Ohio
- On Jan 9, 2004 she worked up the nerve to ask me out on a date
- On Feb. 26, 2005, she celebrated her birthday by bungy jumping off
the top of the Circus Hotel in Las Vegas, NV
- On Nov 24, 2006 she said YES when my son Max and I asked her
to marry me!
- Today, February 26, 2009 she is celebrating her 40th birthday and is
on her tenth year of her heart transplant.
Stacey's story will make you believe In something.... if not
In your faith that God is alive and patiently directing our
lives, then In the strength of the human heart, the love that
lives within it, and the strength that comes from paying
attention to it's messages.
